Downsizing & Moving

It’s never easy to make a move. Whether relocating within the area, within your community, or to a more distant location, I can help. Many people today, especially seniors, are either choosing or needing to downsize, to sort through years of history and decide what goes and what stays. I can help you figure out what you want to take with you, and what you want to discard, sell on consignment, or donate to a charitable organization. I offer caring, compassionate, respectful assistance. The goal is to reduce the stress, to be with you through the whole process and make it as painless as possible.

Downsizing & Moving Services:

Moving Management & Planning

— Initial consultation to go over preparation, mover information, packing supplies

Downsizing & Decluttering

— If needed, setting up a date and time to help with downsizing before the move
— Assisting you with going through your home and deciding what will fit your new space, and what may need to be discarded
— Assisting you with bringing discarded items to a consignment shop, donating them to a charitable organization, or placing them in the trash
— Offering ideas for the best placement and location of your furniture
— Making the whole process as stress-free as possible.

Packing & Unpacking Services

— After everything is sorted, carefully wrap and pack all items
— On the day of the move, be with movers as they load the trucks
— If local, be at your new home when movers unload
— Direct movers to place boxes in correct rooms
— On the day of the move, unpack the main boxes, hang clothes, make sure everything is in its right place and beds are made up and ready for you that night
— Return the next day or two to finish unpacking

Several weeks ago my mother-in-law had to go into a nursing home. She had lived all over the world and had accumulated beautiful china, crystal, pottery and accent pieces. She also had a collection of silver and many antique items that had been handed down from family members for generations. After a conversation with Liz, explaining what she would be packing, she estimated how many boxes and packing items she would need. She estimated perfectly and expertly wrapped the items with efficiency and great care. One of the greatest gifts she gave me was her understanding and empathy about how hard this move was for me and my husband. If she had questions about an item she did not make an assumption about how I wanted something wrapped, but stopped and asked me. Liz was a tremendous help to me and my husband.
